The Global Initiative is building regional feasibility investigations and reoperation demonstration projects, in China and West Africa, with plans to subsequently expand into Brazil (with The Nature Conservancy), India & Pakistan, and Eastern and Southern Africa. There is also the possibility of building a component in the Mekong basin in Southeast Asia, in time. The West African components in the Ghanaian Volta Basin and Nigerian Hadejia-Jama'are-Komadugu-Yobe Basin are fully organized and ready for execution.
